Goldie Hawn shot down the rumor that Kate Hudson secretly wed Muse front man Matt Bellamy.
Last week, Goldie sparked that rumor when she said: “When my daughter Kate married an English rock star it didn’t worry me.”
When one of Goldie’s Twitter followers asked: “So are kate and Matt really married, or are the press twisting your words…,” Goldie responded: “Darling once again twisted the words. They aren’t married.”
Hey, lady. You tossed around the word “married,” not us.
The London Evening Standard magazine, ES, reported the story, saying that Goldie dished to them: "All that matters is that the relationship is a good one. What people do is not necessarily who they are."
But perhaps when Goldie said, “married” she just meant, you know, casually married. Goldie and her longtime boyfriend, Kurt Russell, have been dating longer than most Hollywood couples have been married, but they’ve never actually wed. But Goldie still often refers to him as her “husband.” So most likely, she had the same thing in mind when referring to her daughter.
Kate and Matt got engaged in June of last year, but it wasn’t anything Kate was counting on. During an appearance on The Graham Norton Show, Kate said: “I don’t like putting that sort of pressure on it and I don’t feel it necessary to get married.”
She explained, “I am 31, I already have one child, and have had one divorce, so it is not necessarily the golden ticket. I just want to be happy.”
