Fox News, known as a conservative, right-wing network, is receiving some flack for making careless flubs during coverage of Osama bin Laden’s death. President Barack Obama addressed
the nation Sunday night and confirmed the terrorist responsible for the 9/11 attacks had been killed, and three different Fox News branches have mistaken the name Osama for Obama.
FOX 40, an affiliate of the network based in Sacramento, ran a headline on the bottom of a report on the event, reading: “Reports: Obama Bin Laden Dead.”
Reportedly, complaints were issued connecting the network’s flub with its conservative coverage — Fox features openly conservative hosts like Glenn Beck and Bill O’Reilly who are known for decrying Obama and his policies.
But the mistake is one that can be easily made and the network most likely didn’t do it on purpose.
Fox 40 issued an apology, Zap2it reports, but not before it defended its mistake by pointing out how easily it could be made and that other news organizations made similar mistakes.
Another Fox affiliate out of D.C., made a similar flub saying “President Obama” instead of “Osama Bin Laden” was dead.
And Fox News anchor Geraldo Rivera also fell victim to a similar mishap of the tongue, announcing Obama not Osama had been killed.
