Nicole Kidman plays Grace Kelly in new movie. The Oscar winning actress is in talks to play Grace Kelly in the new film ‘Grace of Monaco’. The movie will  focus on an eleven-month period in Kelly’s life, when she helped stop a coup in the city-state over Monaco’s status as a French tax haven.

It was about time for Nicole Kidman to come back with a huge role which might bring her another Oscar. Last year, the actress only appeared in  ‘Trespass’ with Nicolas Cage as well as ‘Just Go With It’ with Adam Sandler. But after the ‘Rabbit Hole’ (which she also produced) we expect more from her. In 2012, you can see her opposite Clive Owen in HBO movie ‘Hemingway & Gellhorn’. The 44-year-old actress also filmed ‘The Paperboy’ (Lee Daniels’ ‘Precious’ follow-up) and ‘Stoker’ (famed South Korean director Chan-wook Park’s American debut). She is also expected to replace Rachel Weisz on ‘The Railway Man’ with Colin Firth.

‘Grace of Monaco’ will be directed by Oliver Dahan and this is a wonderful news for Nicole Kidman. Dahan is an “Oscar director”. He was behind ‘La Vie en Rose’ which brought Marion Cotillard the Best Actress trophy in 2008.

As you might remember, Grace Kelly is an Oscar winner herself. She was also Alfred Hitchcock’s favourite muse. The actress won an Oscar for her performance in 1954′s ‘The Country Girl’.

When Grace Kelly headed the US delegation at the Cannes Film Festival in April 1955 she met her future husband Prince Rainier III, the sovereign of the principality. The two were married in April 1956 and had three children: Caroline, Albert, and Stephanie. Grace Kelly died at the age of 52 after suffering a stroke on September 14, 1982, when she lost control of her automobile and crashed.

As for Nicole Kidman,  her performance as Virginia Woolf in the drama film The Hours (2002) earned her the Academy Award for Best Actress.
