One Direction's $1 Million Lawsuit Controversy

One-Direction's-$1-Million-Lawsuit-Controversy

One Direction was spotted enjoying the waters of Sydney Harbour on Tuesday afternoon (April 10).

Doing some tubing, fishing and drinking on their relaxing day out, Harry Styles and Liam Payne both seemed to be loving the gorgeous Aussie weather while sporting swim trunks as Zayn took to his Twitter page, writing, "I'm down under officially and its beautiful ! :D x x"

And by the looks of the pictures, it certainly doesn't appear as if the members of one of the hottest boy bands around are letting their recent controversy get them down.

In a report put out by THR, the "British Invasion" hitmakers are in hot water over their group's title being that of an already existing band in the U.S.

According to the report, " Simon Cowell's record label, Syco Entertainment, and Sony Music have just been hit with a $1 million lawsuit that says "One Direction (U.K.) can't navigate itself into U.S. jurisdiction without causing consumer confusion and destroying the goodwill of the U.S.-based doppelganger."

The U.S. band's attorney, Peter Ross, is looking to receive an injunction plus $1 million in damages due to the confusion his clients have had to undergo.

Cowell, who helped form the band after their strong finish on "The X Factor" in the U.K., and One Direction are allegedly against adding prefixes or suffixes to make a distinction between the two bands, possibly due to their existing fame.

So far, Ross explains, "We've been in negotiations for a month to find a resolution," but adds, "In our view, the negotiations weren't turning out to be very productive."
